Resolution Criteria

This market resolves to the player who is officially named the NBA Most Valuable Player for the 2025-26 regular season as determined by the official NBA MVP voting. If the 2025-26 NBA season is canceled or no MVP is awarded, this market will resolve N/A.

Background

The NBA MVP award is voted on by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. Voters rank their top 5 MVP candidates, with points awarded on a 10-7-5-3-1 basis. The player with the highest point total wins the award.

Recent MVP winners include:

  • 2023-24: Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets) - 3rd MVP

  • 2022-23: Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers) - 1st MVP

  • 2021-22: Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets) - 2nd MVP

  • 2020-21: Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets) - 1st MVP

  • 2019-20: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) - 2nd MVP

Considerations

  • MVP voting typically favors players on top-seeded teams

  • Statistical excellence, team success, narrative, and availability (games played) are key factors

  • First-time winners have become more common in recent years

  • Younger stars like Wembanyama, Edwards, and Holmgren could continue to develop into stronger candidates by the 2025-26 season

  • Veteran players like LeBron James and Nikola Jokić may see their performance affected by age or minutes management
