Resolution criteria

This market will resolve to the location where Prince Andrew is primarily residing on December 31, 2025. This will be determined by official announcements from Buckingham Palace or consistent reporting from at least two reputable news organizations (e.g., BBC, Reuters, The Times, The Telegraph) citing official or well-placed royal sources.

If Prince Andrew is reported to be primarily residing at a property not listed in the answers, the market will resolve to "Somewhere else". If there is conflicting or insufficient verifiable information to definitively determine his primary residence by January 15, 2026, the market will resolve to N/A.

Background

Prince Andrew, Duke of York, has resided at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park since 2004, sharing the 30-room mansion with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. He holds a 75-year lease on the property, valid until 2078, for which he paid a £1 million premium and reportedly £7.5 million in refurbishment costs, in addition to a symbolic "peppercorn rent" annually.

Following his stepping back from royal duties and increased public scrutiny, there has been significant pressure for Prince Andrew to vacate Royal Lodge. As of October 2025, he is reportedly in advanced discussions with King Charles's aides regarding his departure, with a growing sense of inevitability that he will move. Recent reports suggest he has agreed to leave Royal Lodge on the condition that he and Sarah Ferguson are provided with other royal properties.

Considerations

Prince Andrew's long-term lease on Royal Lodge makes eviction difficult without his voluntary agreement, meaning his departure is likely contingent on negotiations for a new residence and potential financial compensation for his refurbishment investments.

  • Royal Lodge: Prince Andrew's current primary residence, but he is actively in talks to relocate.

  • Frogmore Cottage: This property, formerly occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is currently reported to be empty. Prince Andrew has reportedly requested it for himself as part of his relocation.

  • Adelaide Cottage: Currently the residence of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are reportedly planning to vacate it and move to Forest Lodge in November 2025. Sarah Ferguson is reportedly considering Adelaide Cottage.

  • Sandringham: Wood Farm, a farmhouse on the Sandringham estate, has been mentioned as a possible alternative residence for Prince Andrew.

  • Somewhere else: This category accounts for any other location, including other royal properties such as those on the Balmoral estate, which have been noted as potential options.
