Resolution Criteria

The 2025 Heisman Trophy Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC. The winner is determined by a 3–2–1 point system where voters rank their top three players, awarding three points for first-place votes, two for second-place, and one for third-place, with the player receiving the highest total points winning. The finalists will be announced earlier that week on Monday Night Countdown following the conclusion of conference championship weekend. Indiana's Fernando Mendoza took over the top spot on the Heisman board after Week 8 and is holding steady as the favorite. Two quarterbacks from the SEC are surging up the board following college football Week 9. Texas A&M's Marcel Reed has 1,972 passing yards, 17 TDs and six rushing touchdowns, and helped lead A&M to a 49-25 win over LSU in Week 9. Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia has 1,698 passing yards and 15 TDs while leading Vandy to a 7-1 record, with his odds moving to +800 after the Commodores' win over Mizzou.

Considerations

The Heisman has always been a regular season award, with voting closing before bowl games. Quarterbacks and running backs have traditionally dominated the award, with 20 of the 24 trophies awarded in the 21st century going to quarterbacks.
