Background:

Multiple leaks have suggested the presence of a button with a symbol that looks like a C on it on the Nintendo Switch 2's right Joy-Con. What's true about this button?

Resolution criteria:

All answers are conditional on "it exists". If no Switch 2 controller with a button resembling this C button is announced on or before release day, all other answers resolve N/A.

I reserve the right to interpret all ambiguities in answers, but I may seek community input before resolving if it seems likely to be controversial.

Close date is provisional, and may resolve early if all correct resolutions are known or go on longer if not all correct resolutions are known.

  • Update 2025-03-01 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Clarification on Button Design Changes

    • If the design of the C button is altered in the final product but remains in the same position and retains similar functionality as depicted in the prototype leaks, it will still count as the button existing.

  • Update 2025-03-01 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Clarification on Button Interpretation:

    • If the button stands for its intended functionality (e.g., linked to cameras, chatting, or a magnetic mechanism), it will resolve as YES.

How does this resolve if the design of the button is changed in the final version, but we have reason to believe the leaks were a real prototype version of the controller? (e.g, the final button looks like a camera, but it's in the same position as the leak, and the leak got all other details accurately)

@MingCat I think that would count as it existing.

@Robincvgr if the function is obviously linked to cameras, chatting, or a magnetic mechanism, etc, would the equivalent answer resolve YES?

@MingCat "stands for" yes, "look like" not necessarily

good questions, thank you
