My best guess is just that it had the default close date on it and no one noticed at / shortly after question creation time.
According to https://www.statista.com/statistics/268750/global-gross-domestic-product-gdp/, gross world product is about ~100T; at the start of the graph (1985) the total was 12T; so it's taken more than 35 years to not quite increase 10x. Another 10x increase would hinge on unprecedented factors (e.g. breakthrough in AGI)
